I help fathers, mothers, and caregivers of children to empower themselves in the development process of their children through play.
A few years ago, I completed my bachelor's degree in psychology, wanting to further my knowledge in human behavior and development. During this process, multiple paths crossed my mind. Then after someone very special told me about occupational therapy and the life-changing benefits of it, I did volunteer work at a hospital to gain more knowledge of what it entails. From then on, I knew it was where I belonged. I decided to study it and put all my efforts toward becoming an occupational therapist. I earned my master’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico, where I had significant experiences and met incredible people in the process.
Initially, my focus was in the area of rehabilitation and outpatient care (for children and adults) in a hospital in Puerto Rico. Some time after that, I relocated to Miami, Fl. There, I worked in a private practice that provided me with the necessary competence to be the expert I am today. I was able to work alongside graduate student interns, occupational therapy assistants, and speech and language pathologists/therapists. I was also fortunate enough to teach, support and guide preschool teachers through effective strategies on how to best support children in their classrooms. I then moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where I worked as an occupational therapist at an amazing practice that focuses on sensory and processing integration. These experiences led me to where I am today. I am currently located in Nashville, Tennessee where I continue to work as an occupational therapist in schools and where I plan to start new ventures.
because I can do what I love every day. If someone had told me there was a fun job in which I would feel free to use my personality to help others, it would have been very difficult for me to believe it. Occupational therapy showed me that such a job does exist! It's amazing to be able to help so many families while having fun!
I discovered the influence that occupational therapy has not only on the development of children, but on the whole family.
I was also able to identify one of my greatest passions, which is guiding children's caregivers so they can offer appropriate and relevant experiences in the child's natural environment while feeling confident with what they promote and facilitate every day.
I learned that parents can experience a variety of feelings, pressures and stresses when making decisions for their children. Knowing which skills we facilitate during each stage of development is important so fathers, mothers and caregivers can feel empowered watching their children progress. Many parents have told me that so much information available on the internet causes them a ton of confusion and overwhelm.
